The legendary sport facility, a combined complex for competitions in cross-country skiing and biathlon, was built in 2011 on the Psekhako ridge, at an altitude of almost fifteen hundred meters. The complex includes two separate stadiums with the start and finish areas, two separate track systems for cross-country skiing and biathlon, a shooting range and the precontest preparations area. Biathlon and cross-country skiing tracks are designed to meet the requirements of the International Ski Federation (FIS) and the International Biathlon Union (IBU).
The stadium building is one of the largest and most comfortable facilities of such purpose in the world. The capacity of the biathlon stadium is about five thousand spectators, the total capacity of the entire ski and biathlon complex is 9 600 spectators.
The landscape in which the complex is located deserves special description. This is a picturesque area with the views of the glaciers and mountains of the Greater Caucasus range and forests of the Sochi national Park. In the west you can see the valley descending from Krasnaya Polyana to the Black sea.
