BELIYE SKALY (THE WHITE ROCKS)
White Rocks canyon is a popular year-round tourist trail located along the Khosta river. The trail is outfitted with special paths and ladders to allow visitors to experience the full range of the canyon’s rich and vibrant natural colours, which make it a favourite destination for travel photographers.
Although the canyon is an undeveloped area, there are conveniently-placed signs to ensure travelers don’t get lost among the bright green ferns and boxwood thickets. The mountains provide welcome shade from the summer heat, and visitors can take a refreshing dip in the azure river on a hot July afternoon. The canyon owes its name to the huge white boulders that block the more than 200-meter deep gorge.
You can get to White Rocks canyon on your own either by public transport (via bus from Khosta) or by private car. You can also visit this natural landmark as part of a guided tour. But be advised, you will experience the most vivid emotions and impressions when you walk through this unique and unforgettable place on your own! The trail is 4.5 km long and the walking portion takes between 3 to 5 hours to complete.
